Depression

In the book The Yellow Wallpaper that is written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman a lady is suffering from condition that is most likely depression. Her husband keeps her in a room alone for many days. He does not want everyone to know about her condition so he just isolates her from the rest of society. The book does say that a baby is with a family member so she could be suffering from a depression called postpartum depression. She also could be suffering from psychotic depression because she sees a lady in the wallpaper.
There are many different types of depression that can affect individuals throughout their lives. The first one is major depression and this is the depression is the most common. Major depression is a disorder that has periods of low mood which cause low self-esteem and not have interest in daily activates. Major depression can also be called clinical depression, major depression, unipolar depression, unipolar disorder or recurrent depression. The second depression is postpartum depression which happens to women after having a baby. Postpartum depression is a type of clinical depression. This depression has symptoms of sadness, fatigue anxiety and change in sleeping and eating patterns. Other type of depression is seasonal affective depression. This depression happens during different seasons like having the winter blues or summer blues. Psychotic major depression is another type of depression. This type is not like most of the other depression because the symptoms and treatment are not like the others. Some of the symptoms of this depression is hallucinations, daydreaming often and intensiveness. I believe the lady in the yellow wallpaper might have had this depression. These are just four different types of depression, there is many more.
